Dear Parents,
We are back at it! The Firsties seem to be refreshed and ready to learn and that makes this teacher pretty happy!
There was a funeral in the church yesterday, so Chapel was held in the Gym.  Pastor shared with us all about the Epiphany Turtle.
What?!?
You’ve never heard about the Epiphany Turtle?!?
 (Don’t worry…neither had I).
Epiphany is the season in our church year that celebrates not only the Wise Men coming from the East to find and worship baby Jesus, but also Jesus, the Savior, being born into our sinful world.  He is the light that came into our dark world and saved us from our sins.  Just as the Wise Men from the East followed the star, Jesus is our light that we follow.  The Epiphany Turtle has a solar panel on the back of it and when it absorbs the light from the sun, it will show off the light in the dark for others.  What a great example for us!  When we take in the light from the One that gives light, we can’t help but shine that light to others!  How will you share that light?  How will you give that light to others?

We wrote our “New Year’s Resolutions” today in class!  These Firsties are going to “knock our socks off” with what their goals are for 2017.  Watch for them to come home!
Next week will be starting our 2nd round of NWEA testing.  Please try to not have your child miss any school in the next two weeks!  Thank you for making sure that your kiddo has a great breakfast and that they get enough sleep each night.
It is has been SO COLD that we have not been able to go outside.  With the wind chill, it was -7 today!  BRRRRRRR!  That being said, hopefully it won’t continue to stay this cold out and we hope to get back out side again soon.  Please make sure your that your child is prepared with snowpants, mittens, gloves, hat, scarf, boots, etc..
The January calendar will be coming home tomorrow so you can get a head start on spelling words and the memory work for next week.
Blessings on your weekend!
Miss Gallagher
