Dear Parents,
Happy Tuesday! We
started our day working on some handwriting, concentrating on the letter b.
When your firstie writes letters and words at home, please remind them that
letters NEVER start from the bottom. I
am still seeing some students do this and we will just continue to practice. Thank you for your help at home with this; keeping
your eyes on their progress as well.
I will be sending home a 1st grade devotional
binder (It’s red!) that will travel from home to home for a couple of weeks. In the binder, there are Veggietale family
devotions and there is also a book that a college friend of mine wrote,
entitled “Our Faith from A to Z”. It is
up to you which devotionals you do as a family (Or even just with your firstie!),
or if you read the book or not. I am not
going to keep track! I just wanted to
give you another resource to do devotionals with your family. When your firstie
receives it please keep it no more than two weeks and then send it back in so
that it can go to another family. I am
sending it home with Allyson Roth today.
I hope that you are able to glean something good from spending some time
in devotions with your family.
We are learning about double consonants at the end of a word
and ck together. Ask your firstie about
this! Ask them what happens when you
have double consonants at the end of the word….what does one do?
We have started using our ipads! I am sure that your firstie has shared this
with you….LOL. We use them a few times a
week. Right now they are exploring a
couple different apps including; Spelling City, Epic, Hungry Fish, Letter Rip,
Jumbled Sentences, Toontasic, Puppet Pals, and we have even used a QR scanner
for a short vowel review.
This chapter in Math is very short so we will be having our
test later this week. There will be NO Math Choice Board for this chapter
(Because it is SO short!).
Keep those donations for Aaron’s Gifts From Home coming
in! Thank you for giving to our troops
overseas!
Tomorrow is Library Day.
Just as a reminder, each firstie is allowed to choose two books; an AR
book and a Fun book. I have had two
firsties sign up to take their AR tests.
I need your help to encourage your firstie to read their AR book several
times and then sign up to take a test.
Have a g-r-e-a-t rest of your day!
Blessings,
Miss Gallagher
