Dear Parents,
Happy Wednesday! Hopefully
you received my Fast Direct message this morning…! We are ON for the field trip
next Thursday (the 22nd) to the Chippewa Nature Center. We will be attending the program that talks
about maple syrup, maple trees, and we will even get to practice tapping a tree
for the sap! We will be leaving around
12:00 (noon) and the program is about an hour and a half. The cost is $2.75. Please return the permission slip and money
in a marked envelope by this Friday (and please indicate if you can drive and
how many you can take). Thank you! If
you aren’t able to drive, I totally understand, especially since this is SO
last minute…but don’t forget to send in your firstie’s car seat so that they
can be driven to and from the Chippewa Nature Center, LEGALLY.
Did you get the
Reading Record on Monday? Something that
the whole school is going to do for National Reading Month is keep track of how
many minutes are read each night. The
goal for first grade is still the same; 20 minutes, 5 times a week. Please have your firstie color the amount of minutes
that they color each night and it will NEED to be turned in each week on Monday
morning (no exceptions). Each student
will then get a new Reading Record for the next week. We will do this for the
three remaining weeks that we have in March. Our goal for the whole school is
to read 55, 550 minutes….! WOW! That’s a lot!
But I think that we can do it! If
we meet the goal, Mrs. Klauer will be donning a costume, two separate
days. I know what the costumes are and
it should be entertaining….she is such a good sport!
We are continuing
with our Secret Readers….thank you to those who have been able to do this! We are enjoying the books that you are
sharing with us.
Mrs. Shepherd read us one of her favorites from when she was little "Tikki Tikki Tembo" |
Our “pirate patches”
have been fun! I’ve been having them
speak in a “pirate” voice, so don’t be surprised if they do it at home
too! (ARGGGGGG!)
We will be
celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Friday with a few Irish treats that I am going
to bring in. If your firstie wants to
bring in something to share with the rest of the class, that would be
great! They can also wear green and/or
Irish gear.
Below are a few more pictures from last week's Lutheran School's week...
