Dear Parents,
Reading Month has
begun! What fun! Did your firstie tell you what they got to
pick out yesterday? Each firstie got to
pick out a book as a gift for Reading Month! How has reading at home been
going? I am really noticing a difference
at school (In a GREAT way!) and I am SO proud of how far they have come! Don’t
forget to send in a flashlight with your firstie tomorrow, for our first
Flashlight Friday!
We had our first “secret
reader” on Tuesday and we all enjoyed the book that Mrs. Klauer read to
us. Ask your firstie about it!
Yesterday began
the season of Lent, with Ash Wednesday.
Lent is the 40 days (minus Sundays) before Easter and a time to reflect
and prepare for Holy Week. The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is typically called
“Fat Tuesday” because people “indulge” on things that they might give up for
the season of Lent.
Did you give
anything up this year? In the past, I have given up chocolate, pizza (THAT was
pretty difficult….I am like pastor Sherry and do like pizza!), and even iced tea.
Giving up something for Lent is supposed to be a sacrifice and remind us
of the GREATEST and BEST sacrifice of Jesus.
However, for me, it just doesn’t seem like enough…you know? So instead of giving up something, I am going
to try to add something to my daily routine….quiet time with God. Time to reflect and just be STILL. I hope and pray that you are able to find
time throughout the next weeks to be still and pray and just BE with the Lord.
We continue to
work hard at becoming more independent.
Thank you for helping do what you can, to foster a little more independence
on the home front!
I have been
noticing a lot more healthy snacks and foods coming into the classroom! Thank you for this! Don’t forget that the “lunch
meal plan” worksheets are due tomorrow.
Take Home Story
Bags are due tomorrow!
Blessings on your
evening!
Miss Gallagher
