Dear Parents,
Happy Friday! I am so thankful that our class is on the mend and that we are feeling better (though I heard that some of you are now not feeling well…..we are praying for you!).
We continue to celebrate Reading Month!  Here are a few more of the readers that have come into our classroom and read to us this week!
Mrs. Giffel

Mr. Fitzgerald

Mrs. LaFramboise

Mrs. Kundinger

We also did our “Flashlight Friday” today!  If your firstie forgot about it for today…..do not fear!  We will be doing it again next Friday! And the following Friday after that! Two more opportunities to participate!

How are the time lines going for the Social Studies Fair?  Only one more week to go!  They can brought in BEFORE Friday if you would like and I can just store them in our classroom.  I would like each of the first graders to present their time lines to the class, so if you get done before Friday please send them in. That way we won’t have to have ALL the first graders present on Friday (which would save on our time for that day!).

Yesterday we worked on our Pen Pal letters!  We wrote a first draft and will write our final drafts next week and then they will be ready to send back.  If anyone has access to any information about Bay City (i.e. maps, postcards, etc…) and would be willing to part with them, please let me know.  I would like to include information about where we live in the big envelope that gets sent to Fort Wayne.  Thank you!

Please continue to quiz your firstie with math facts!  Quiz them on the way to school or on the way home.  At the table for breakfast or dinner are also good times!  It only needs to be a few minutes at a time, but I think that it really does help to review.  We added two digit number today (which most thought was easy so far) without regrouping, and they did okay!

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, next Friday, if your firstie would like to bring in something green to share with everyone, that we be fantastic!  It is NOT required….but would add to the day, for sure! Some examples of things brought in in the past are: green apples, green fruit roll-ups, green pencils, green cookies, green stickers, green erasers, etc… Your firstie can also wear green (and if they don’t have anything at all green, I have something that I will be giving to everyone that they can wear, so there doesn’t need to be any panicking!).

Don’t forget that for our memory test next week, each firstie will need to show me that they can tie their shoes properly.  Keep practicing!

Have a wonderful weekend!
 Blessings,
Miss Gallagher
