Dear Parents,
We started our day a little differently, this morning!  With our spelling words, students played the game “Tic-Tac-Word”! With this game (I mean….review….) they played in pairs and chose a spelling word card to use as their X or O.  Now that they know how to play, I think that we will be able to play again in the future, for other reviewing.

Because we flip-flopped today, Religion was at the end of the day.  We learned about some sneaky people in the Bible and what they did.  Ask your firstie about Issac, Rebekah, Jacob, and Esau.  What about learned about what it means to repent; what it means to say you are sorry and then are forgiven!

In Reading, we took a picture walk through our story today.  The firsties looked at the pictures before we read the story, and then made guesses at what the story is about.  We continue to talk about what “Good readers do…” and doing a picture walk is also one of those things.

With our spelling words having the short u sound this week, we have all of the short vowel sounds covered.  Check out this great review video and ask your firstie to sing along!

We have Library tomorrow, so please help your firstie to remember their book.  They will be allowed to pick two books from now on.  One AR book (at their level) and one “fun” book.  I would like the firsties to start taking tests on their AR books.  The goal, for now, is for one AR test to be taken and passed before the end of the first marking period.

I am looking for volunteers to come and read one-on-one with some of the firsties and do small projects with our class.  If that is something that you would like to do, please let me know. Thank you for your consideration!

How can tomorrow already be Wednesday?!? And for that matter, how can it already be October?!?! Good gracious!  Time is flying!

Blessings on your evening!
Miss Gallagher
