Dear Parents,
Happy Tuesday!  How are things going now that we are “back in the swing of things”?  The firsties have been enjoying our time outside and I am beyond thrilled that we all have been able to get outside and get some fresh air.

Their snowman from yesterday looks like his grin slipped a little....

I wanted to share a few quick things with you this evening...
There was a voter’s meeting last night and one of the main things discussed was the BFF (Building for the Future Campaign) proposal and what was going to be done about this. Wait…let me back up a little bit… If you weren’t able to be at any of the Christmas or Advent services, let me quickly fill you in. When the campaign was started, the goal was to build a few more (much needed) classrooms, more bathrooms, and a storage closet.  In order to do this, there was a dollar amount set and once that was obtained, we would move forward.   Unfortunately, we didn’t make the goal, so the Building Committee and Board of Education worked really hard to figure out what to do with this problem.  The biggest problem being that we are out of space….just completely out of space.  So both boards proposed that starting next year, there would be a “slow shrink” which means there would be a cap put onto classrooms in the early childhood part of the building.  This will affect us because in this plan, the 1st and 2nd grade will be combined into one class and because the Kindergarten class is so big, we would have to turn away 10 or 11 families.  I can’t even imagine what that would be like!  5 and 6 grade would be split into their own classes because they have grown so much, and the eventual reality would be that if the “slow shrink” continues, in a handful of years, all of the classes will be combined again and our school will be small.  Mrs. Klauer will be addressing this in her newsletter later in the week, so please stay tuned for the progress and update.

Lutheran Special Education Ministries (LSEM for short), is our mission for this month.  Going home with the oldest and only child is a small bank.  If you are able, please fill up and return to school.  More information coming throughout the month. Thank you!

Spelling pre-test tomorrow!
Blessings on your evening!
Miss Gallagher
