Dear Parents,
He is RISEN!  He is RISEN INDEED, Alleluia!  What happy and joyful news that we celebrated this last weekend….knowing, that without a shadow of a doubt, that Jesus didn’t stay dead in the tomb, but rose again for us!  He paid the price for our sins, ALL our sins, and because of that we will be with Him in heaven one day.  The firsties painted a picture as a reminder of what Christ did for us!  I want to encourage you hang it somewhere it will be seen often!

We shared our eggs and clues today!  Each firstie did a great job with their three clues and we only got stumped a few!
An Easter Lily!

A butterfly!

A nail.  The third clue for this was "It hurt Jesus".

Just a reminder that there are NO spelling words for this week but we will still have a memory test on Friday.  Thank you for helping to prepare your kiddo for that test.

Our peeps went home last week!  They had such a good time making a nest for their peep, naming their peep, writing about their peep, and babysitting their peep.

Our peeps even went to lunch with us!
Speaking of babysitting….almost ALL of our beans have sprouted!  I am a little surprised that it didn’t take longer, but am very pleased!  Last year, it took a long time for our beans to sprout, so we tracked longer (at school).  If the want is there, firsties can continue to track the progress of their bean seeds at home, and even plant them and see what happens!

This week we will be looking at the “pirate” sound (ar) in words.  This sound will be in our readings (stories) and word works throughout the week.

How is the reading at home going?  The more that your firstie practices reading, and reading out loud, the more fluent they will be.  Keep up the great work!

WE are presenting Chapel next week, and assigned parts will be coming home tomorrow. Parts will not need to be memorized, but practiced multiple times would be AWESOME! :)

Have a g-r-e-a-t week, resting in the arms of our RISEN Savior!

Dear Parents,
Happy Holy Week.  I pray that you have a wonderful week and that you are blessed in your worship and remembrance of all that Christ did for us…for YOU!

Sending home the first graders religion books for homework today, was a little different, that is true!  But I really want to get caught up! As you saw, we are learning about some of the teachings that Jesus shared with his disciples and other people that wanted to learn from Him.  The firsties learned that some of Jesus’ teachings were called parables.  Ask your firstie if they remember what the definition of a parable is…(an earthly story with a heavenly meaning)

As I am sure that you know, one of the eggs from the preschool room, hatched!  Today, the firsties got to hold the chick and get their picture taken with it! Here are a couple of snap shots…..enjoy!

Speaking of eggs….how is the “egg” project at home going?  Remember, the item that you and your firstie place in the egg should have to do with spring (and that includes Easter!).  The clues and the eggs are due next Tuesday, the 18th.

This week we are going to be studying the sound oo.  This sound will be in the spelling words, in our readings, and on a lot of the worksheets that we will do this week.

The next chapter in math that we will start is going to be about length and measurement.

We will be doing a little project, hanging out with “peeps” on Thursday….watch for it to be coming home.

Has your firstie been updating you on the progress of their beans?  I will take pictures tomorrow and will attach them to the next blog. I have to say that the kiddos are so excited about this little experiment!

Just a reminder that tests will be on Thursday this week instead of Friday, because there is no school on Friday.

Blessings on your week,
Miss Gallagher

Dear Parents,
Welcome back!  I hope that you ALL had a wonderful Spring Break and that you were able to spend some time relaxing with friends and family.
We are officially in the 4th quarter and I know that I say this a lot, but I cannot believe how quickly the time is going by with my awesome firstie family.  There is so much still to learn and so much more to do!  Thank you for continuing to work with your kiddo at home and for all that you do to help them!
This is my pet rock (no, he doesn’t have a name…).

Before the break, we were introduced to him and we talked about what he needs.  As we discussed, because he isn’t living, he doesn’t need ANYTHING.  We talked about how beautiful the flowers are, that God blesses us with and how animals are given what they need. God loves US even more than the flowers and animals and promises us that He will take care of us.   Do you worry?  I know that I am guilty of worrying A LOT…about things that sometimes aren’t even always in my control.  God promises that He will take care of us and we needn’t worry.  Praise Him for that, but it is so hard to let go and trust.  I pray that as you continue in your journey of faith, you are able to really give your cares and worries over to the Lord and trust in Him.
There was a lot of information that came home tonight, and I didn’t want to overwhelm you all.  I will be sending home a parent letter tomorrow with even MORE info!  :)
Their Science books came home tonight because we will be having a Science test on Chapter 4, on Thursday.  We also will be having a Math test on Wednesday (subtraction).  Thank you for helping your kiddo study for our memory test on Friday and their spelling tests on Wednesday and Friday.  Yes, lots of tests this week!
Have a g-r-e-a-t week.
