Dear Parents,
It’s the weekend!  :) :) :)
Has your firstie told you what we have been studying in Social Studies?  We have been learning about the 7 continents and oceans.  We watched the video below to help us remember all of the different 7 continents. It gives the firsties tricks to remember each one….check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCYERpZ4Ujc

We have also been learning about directions.  If you have GPS in your car, point out the directions that you are going as you travel, so that your firstie can have real life applications!

Today we learned how to add three numbers! Over the weekend, ask your firstie about three things to look for when adding three numbers.  Just in case they have forgotten the order is; #1 Look for doubles, #2 If there are no doubles, look for numbers to add together that will equal 10, and #3 if there are no doubles or numbers to add together to make 10, then just add together the numbers that make the most sense to you.

Thank you to all that were able to bring in toilet paper for our “toilet paper tower”!  I took this picture on Wednesday, and I know that more people brought in packages on Thursday and today….so I believe it was filled all the way to the top! SO AWESOME!  Thank you for your generosity!

The December calendars were sent home today (on grayish paper). Memory is on the back of the calendar!  We will be resuming our regular routine next week of new spelling words, new Take Home Stories, and new sounds and words to learn!   I am looking forward to it and whether they know it or not, I think that the firsties are too.

Just a reminder the kiddos should be reading their AR book (from the Library) and should be signing up for an AR test.  The goal is passing at least one test per marking period.  Speaking of goals, new BOOK IT calendars will be coming home on Monday.  Please send in the November BOOK IT calendars if your firstie met our goal of 20 minutes, 5 times a week. Thank you!

I have to apologize to you about the sweet potatoes….I am so sorry!  They were dug up too late and had already frozen….so many of them were spoiled by the time they got to you.
Please believe me that was not my intention….lesson learned (kind of a smelly one, I know...).

Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you on Monday!
Miss Gallagher
