Dear Parents,
Happy Wednesday!  Brr….!  It’s chilly outside today!  To be clear, I DID say that I like fall, but this feels a little chiller than fall!

***I started writing this BEFORE it snowed!  Ugh!***

Yesterday in Religion we learned about the final plague that God handed down to Pharaoh and the Egyptians…that was the killing of the first-born sons.  God told Moses that he had to kill (sacrifice) a perfect and spotless lamb, and then take the blood from the lamb and paint it on the doorframes of the houses where the Israelites were living.  That was the sign for the angel that God sent, to pass over their houses.  We talked about how Jesus has different names; Lord, Christ, Son of God….but another name is Lamb of God.  Jesus, the Lamb of God, was sacrificed, shed His blood, to save us!  This is a little difficult connection for firsties to make, so reiterate it at home!  Talk about Jesus as the Lamb of God!  Tomorrow we are going to “paint” our doorway with “blood”. You will be able to see it next week at Parent/Teacher Conferences.

The 5th and 6th grade presented the Chapel service today and they taught us about Martin Luther!  Ask your firstie what they remember!  We are going to learn a little more about him in class, but watch for a special surprise to come home soon...

Here are more pictures of our pumpkin adjectives....see if you can guess what the face of the pumpkin is showing...

We are continuing to practice our fluency in reading!  How is that going at home?  From now on, each week I will be sending home stories for your firstie to read to you, in the little "take home story" bags.  Please keep them until Friday, so that your kiddo can practice reading the stories in there more than once.  Fluency...fluency...fluency!

Because of the Harvest Dinner preparations, we will be eating in our classrooms for the rest of the week.

Book orders are due Friday!

Stay warm!
